The founders of CJBMX were the Gleason family. They were the owners of Bicycle World, the bike shop that is now SC Action Sports. Click here to learn about the early days of CJBMX. Their daughter Kelly was instrumental in the early days of CJBMX and helped out in all aspects of the track. Registration, points keeping, and scoring were some of Kelly's responsibilities back then. All that at the age of about 15. Kelly later went on to a successfull career as a SFX make up artist, even receiving a grammy for her work on the HBO series Angels in America.
We lost Kelly to cancer in late 2007.
In order to memoralize Kelly in the way she would like, CJBMX has set up a link to NYCRescue.org for people who would like to make a donation in her memory. NYC Rescue is funded entirely by donations and helps those who seek guidance in their lives.
CJBMX thanks the Gleason family for everything they have done for BMX racing and is proud to continue to carry on the CJBMX name. |
