CJBMX has moved to new dig's online.  This content will remain, but news, directions, information, sponsors, riders, results,  all that stuff can be best reached at  cjbmx.org

New riders are welcome.  FIrst events are free.  Athletes must have long sleeves, pants and a bicycle to ride at race BMX bicycles.   Central Jersey's volunteers can provide you with a helmet for use at the track.  Every bicycle we see revieves a safety inspection before going onto the track.  CJBMX is at Top 10 NBL organization in recruiting and retention of athletes.

There will be a new rider clinic before racing starts.  CJBMX will have hosts to help familes new to the community negotiate the grounds and navigate the track.

Two, and in some cases three generations of athletes have competed, learned self confidence, self reliance, and built countless friendships on the groomed soil and banked turns in Howell, NJ.  The current rider who brings the most riding guests gets a T-shirt this Sunday.

Sponsorship packages are still available.  For $150 our partners get a beautiful 4x6 banner. This banner will be displayed from March to December at 40 races and about 100 pactices, weather permitting. Sponsors can also provide approved materials for distribution to our athletes, families and guests.  We have more than 20 so far, so do not miss this opportunity.

Response has been good for the CJBMX Bargain.   CJBMX is offering a season of regular local racing and practices for $150.  Email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for your pass.

2009 Rider Of The Year

William "Band-aid Billy" Sunderman is the rider of the year in 2009.  Billy figured out how to go fast before he figured out how to hold on, but in the fall put it all together.  The author of this piece did not know Billy without a helmet on until our Woodward trip in September.  I was talking to a few of the athletes and had to ask who the kid with brown hair is.  CJBMX enjoyed watching Bill figure things out  this year, growing in his confidence and learning how to fly.

CJBMX Old Schools Show and Swap Meet
CJBMX will host an Old School Show and Swap meet at the East Coast Regional on April 18, 2010.  CJ will have a regional qualifier, Hell On Wheels , track dinner, movie night and more TBD.  We will provide awards in several categories TBD.  For more details email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Winter at CJBMX

Just because it is the off-season does not mean that CJBMX is not working.  Beyond conducting the occasional practice this winter CJBMX will:

  • Rework the riding surface
  • Maintain and make enhancements to the racing hardware
  • Improve the lighting
  • Work on the grounds to improve parking and drainage
  • Make improvements in the snack bar
  • Improve the audio
  • Construct a signboard for advertising

In short, there is always something to do.  With opening day approaching we will be having work parties on warm dry days to accomplish these tasks.  Please pay attention to this site and www.facebook.com/cjbmx for information on when we will be working.

While it is too cold to put hammer to nail we can offer the places we shop and work the opportunity to be part of CJBMX.  If you think your employer or merchant would be willing to help CJ let us know.  We have some great programs where businesses can reach our members with 4x6 banners for less than $3 per event.  Contact John at 973 495 5144 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more details.

December 2009

Douglas Hoven is the December 2009 Rider of the Month.  Riding in a stacked 6 Novice class Douglas and his peers have provided some of the best racing at the track all year.  Doug has added some big wheels and is now banging bars in the cruiser class.  Next year we can look for Doug with a new IronMan helmet.
